Powys logistics specialist Speed Welshpool appoints new sales manager

A leading UK transport and third-party logistics specialist has continued with its ambitious plans for growth, strengthening the team with the appointment of a new sales manager.

Cheryl Charles joins Speed Welshpool, a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, from social care charity Cymryd Rhan where she was a business development manager. She brings a wealth of sales and customer service-related experience to Speed Welshpool having worked in field sales at other freight forwarding & logistics companies for ten years and Roche Diabetes Care for twelve.

As part of her role she’ll develop close relationships with existing customers, help the business to grow by acquiring new volume and identify new opportunities.

Of the hiring, Speed Welshpool’s Managing Director, George Edwards said: “We were thrilled to welcome Cheryl to the team in this new role at Speed Welshpool and I’m delighted at the feedback we’re receiving from the customers that Cheryl is involved with.

“It’s clear local businesses embrace working with a family-owned carrier who value customer service, and who don’t just go the extra mile but to the ‘ends of the earth’ for their customers.

“Now that the team is structured to offer a leading service, the foundations are in place for us to develop as a business. I’m very excited to see what the next 12 months bring in terms of growth as we look to communicate our strengths to the local area and work with new businesses.”

Commenting on why she was keen to join the Speed Welshpool team, Cheryl said: “Since relocating to Mid Wales with my family in July 2015, I really struggled to find a career role that I could be passionate about. When the opportunity to work with Speed Welshpool and the Palletways Network arose, I jumped at the chance”

“As I’d already worked in the logistics industry and enjoyed it thoroughly, I saw this role as a great opportunity to help a successful local business secure its future and develop further. I love my role at Speed Welshpool as it’s a great company to work for – no two days are the same!

“I’ve learnt a lot about our customers businesses and how we can be an extension of their offering to their customers. It’s our goal to give the customers the very best service in the industry and I’m excited to try and make that a reality.”

Cheryl has completed accreditations in Consultative Selling, Negotiation Selling Skills and Advanced Selling Skills with qualifications from ‘Bowstone’ in Group Training and from ‘Miller Heiman’ in Strategic Selling.
